What Sonya’s Students Are Saying

“Our family has had the pleasure of being taught by Sonya since 2004. My three children continue to learn with Sonya because of her expertise, knowledge, caring personality and warmth. Sonya is very accommodating of the different learning styles of her students and provides creative lessons accordingly. I highly recommend Sonya to anyone who wants to learn for leisure or for exams and for young

- Susan Yoo

“Sonya is easily the best piano teacher we’ve ever had. She makes music fun. She’s great with the kids, and really cares about them and their learning. Both my kids come out of their lesson happy and enjoy tinkling on the piano in their free time. They have both progressed very well this year.”

- Brenda Cunningham

“Sonya is a fabulous teacher, and is especially great with kids. Her enthusiasm, sense of fun and positive approach has seen my son really take to the piano & he loves going to lessons, and feels such pride in his progress. I’ve recommended Sonya to many friends in the past, and would heartily recommend her to any parent seeking piano lessons for their child.”

WHY SHOULD YOU
LEARN PIANO?

Learn to play the piano because it makes you feel happy and it’s fun. It increases our memory and mathematical skills. It enhances our self esteem.

Learning the piano at any age provides great advantages to our lives and our health, both physically and mentally. It increases neural activity in the brain which keeps the brain healthier, activating synapses and enabling faster thought processes. There is biological evidence that proves that playing a musical instrument influences memory, coordination, and our spatial reasoning skills.

During school exams, pleasure playing the piano can release stress and reduce anxiety. It speeds up the time teenagers reach adult cortical development using both hemispheres of the brain and even increases our IQ.

In young children, learning to play is essential for their development, it helps build coordination, left and right side syncopation, spatial reasoning, speech, pattern recognition, movement and rhythm.

It’s easy to see how playing a musical instrument can boost our self-esteem, confidence and happiness.

It gives them a chance to develop a passion and will give them confidence in performing in front of people, this all translates into other areas of their lives. It also helps them develop a disciplined attitude towards learning.

We become more engaged in our schooling and work. Learning to play the piano also improves language abilities and develops a deeper understanding of our emotional selves.
