Learning the piano at any age provides great advantages to our lives and our health, both physically and mentally. It increases neural activity in the brain which keeps the brain healthier, activating synapses and enabling faster thought processes. There is biological evidence that proves that playing a musical instrument influences memory, coordination, and our spatial reasoning skills.
During school exams, pleasure playing the piano can release stress and reduce anxiety. It speeds up the time teenagers reach adult cortical development using both hemispheres of the brain and even increases our IQ.
In young children, learning to play is essential for their development, it helps build coordination, left and right side syncopation, spatial reasoning, speech, pattern recognition, movement and rhythm.
It’s easy to see how playing a musical instrument can boost our self-esteem, confidence and happiness.
It gives them a chance to develop a passion and will give them confidence in performing in front of people, this all translates into other areas of their lives. It also helps them develop a disciplined attitude towards learning.
